Hi,
I would have a question about network connection needed for replication between 2 VMwares, I know the page: ports needed but I would like to ask:
Scenario:
DC#1 - these VMs are running there
VBR, Veeam proxy, VMware#1 with vCenter for VMware#1 and also vCenter for VMware#2
DC#2 - VMware#2 without vCenter as its running in DC#1
********************
If I will do a replication from DC#1:
Backup proxy (DC#1) needs TCP 443 to be opened to vCenter#1/ESXi Servers and vCenter#2 (running in DC#1) ESXi servers (running in DC#2) but VBR itself do not need connection to DC#2 ESXi Servers?
Its enough if VBR has access via TCP 443 to vCenter#1 and #2?
Veeam proxy need port 902 to ESXi servers and DC#1 and DC#2
The way would be:
1. VBR will contact vCenter#1 and request a snapshot of CustomerVM#1
2. Veeam Proxy (DC#1) will read the VM data and copied it to DC#2 on the datastore/ESXi via NBD transport mode as no backup proxy will be present in DC#2
but as mentioned above VBR itself do not need any connection do DC#2? only the Veeam proxy (DC#1) need it?
Thank you!

Re: VBR Replication between VMwares network connections needed
Hi StanoSedliak,
Just to be clear here, are you using the Veeam server itself as the only proxy or do you have additional proxy servers configured?
Based on what you've written so far, I understand that only DC1 will have a proxy for the replication jobs, and while it can work, you will have a better experience very likely by putting a proxy in DC2 and using that as the target proxy. This would match our reference architecture in the User Guide.
This will simplify things if you can deploy a local proxy on DC2 and let the local proxy handle the local connection, just make sure that the proxies are able to communicate with each other between the DCs.

Re: VBR Replication between VMwares network connections needed
Hi Davin,
I would separate proxy in DC#1 only as proxy and Veeam backup and replication will be installed on another server. I understand that a proxy also in DC#2 would be better but I would need to know if it would be possible to run only proxy in DC#1 and I will be able to replicate servers to DC#2 without any proxy in DC#2.
And if VBR main server also need some network connection to the DC2 ESXi servers. thank you!
